Questions and Answers for Women Seeking Information on Testosterone Replacement with Pellets.

In April 2019, Dr. Maupin will be presenting to the national convention of AMMG (Age Management Medicine Group). This is a convention that she and her staff have attended twice a year for the last 10 years. Several times she has been asked to participate in a panel of experts or to present independently on a topic where she is considered to be an expert by this group of physicians who all have practices focusing on the management of the aging process.

We are all seeking ways to maximize the health of our patients as they age so that they are able to live happy, functional, active lives until they die.

This year’s presentation by Dr. Maupin will be focused on three topical areas:

  1. Side Effects of Testosterone Itself
  2. Side Effects and complaints associated with testosterone pellets
  3. Complications that can arise from the pellet insertion procedure itself.

Much of the information presented by Dr. Maupin will be aimed at helping doctors who specialize in hormone replacement manage and operate their practices more successfully. This information is founded on her research and on her extensive practice of hormone replacement medicine for the last fifteen years.  Dr. Maupin is a proponent of the 10,000-hour theory of Malcolm Gladwell. Mr. Gladwell contents that you need over 10,000 hours of experience to become an expert or top- level performer of any craft or specialty. She has calculated that she has over a hundred thousand hours of patient contact.

The information we want to cover in our podcast this week covers the information which she will provide in her talk that is aimed at the consuming public. Those people who seek hormone replacement through bioidentical testosterone pellets who often have questions regarding topics such as hair loss and other hair related issues. Dr. Maupin will explain in this pod cast what she knows from treating the myth that testosterone causes hair loss. She will discuss the connectivity of DHT and hair loss. What causes this and how does one treat and or avoid it?

There are also concerns when using pellet replacement of testosterone for some patients who experience acne and facial hair. She will discuss what causes this rare event and how to treat it if you should experience it.

Two other areas of concern that can be side effects of pellet replacement are voice changes and weight gain. There will be detailed discussions of how these are issues for a small portion of the population and what to do in treating these concerns.

This is a jam -packed podcast with loads of information that will help you make decisions regarding your treatment protocols as physicians and inform you as patients about what to expect from your treatment. The goal, as always, is to maximize your treatment outcomes so that you live long and healthy and active lives.
